JM.com: November Q&A
From: http://www.jamesmarsters.com/qa.html

November

Is there any living creature (mammal, reptile, insect, fish, etc.) that just completely gives you the willies?
The Tasmanian devil. Their cries in the night will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and leap off your neck. They have very powerful jaws and the sounds of them breaking bone from the carcass of their kill can literally be heard for miles.

When Clark was telling Professor Fine about his suspicions about the sorority girls, Fine says...."But Clark, there is no such thing as vampires." Was that written by the Smallville writers as a special homage to Spike?
That was written by Steve DeKnight, for christsakes, who should have more dignity.

Why did the guitar become your instrument of choice to learn?
It was my father's.

You've said that acting is not so much putting on a mask but rather a process of selecting facets of one's own personality that fit the character, which is much more revealing and truthful. What pieces of yourself do you feel are applicable to be Macbeth?
Force of will, impatience, and ruthlessness. But we all have those.

Spam or bologna?
Spam (Steve says “owww, you are white trash!”)

Favorite:
Halloween costume growing up?

Hmmmm, Super Monkey Man – I had an ape mask that fit all around my head and it had artificial hair. Planet of the Apes was out and I was all about the monkey. I terrorized my neighborhood that night.

Indulgence that you have now that you weren't able to have before you were famous?
A swimming pool, a great guitar and every video game that looks interesting.

Next session: December 15

JM.com: Q&A Bonanza
From: http://www.jamesmarsters.com/home.html

Q&A Bonanza

Despite his busy schedule, James was happy to answer another batch of questions recently. So to make up for October's lighter Q&A, here are a few mid-session extras. This also means that there will now be a November Q&A as well, so be sure to check back on November 15.

What kind of coffee do you like when you can choose?
Espresso. The darker the roast, the stronger you can make it.

This question relates to a scene in Macbeth: a physician tells him Lady M has gone mad. Macbeth then asks him, "canst thou not minister to a mind diseased?" Would you interpret this as his asking the physician to have her painlessly killed to avoid further suffering?
HELL NO! Macbeth is desperately trying to save his wife. He knows he is driving her insane and he is really just beating up on the doctor for not being a psychiatrist.

What has been the greatest compliment you've received during your acting career and who gave it to you?
A 13 year-old girl who thought that a Beckett one act I did called Ohio Impromptu was an exciting play. Beckett is very difficult to make exciting.

Gawker Stalker: James Sighting
From: http://www.gawker.com/news/stalker/classic-gawker-stalker-mandy-moore-spends-more-money-before-noon-than-you-do-in-a-whole-week-210728.php

Saw James Marsters ("Spike" from Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame) filming with Hilary Swank and Gerald Butler in the East Village. They are filming PS I Love You. Marsters now has brown hair and I have to say looks gorgeous as ever but I really liked him better as a blonde. A group of students from NYU were in fan heaven. The boys were happily signing autographs!

JM.com: October Q&A
From: http://www.jamesmarsters.com/qa.html

October

(Due to James' current filming schedule, this month's Q&A will be a bit shorter than normal and, as it stands now, November's Q&A will need to be skipped altogether. But we should be back on track for December's Q&A. Thanks for your understanding.)

You've talked about what led to your leaving New York and going to Chicago, but why did you leave Chicago and go to Seattle?
Because I didn't want to die in Chicago; it's too cold. I know that I wouldn't have died for a long time, but old age in Chicago would be hard.

Who or what makes you nervous?
Having to audition when I know I’m not right for the role, that’s awkward. Not much actually. Maybe I should be more engaged and more nervous about things. Maybe I’m a closet Buddhist or trying to be.

The American Express quiz:

Childhood ambition: actor
Fondest memory: birth of my son
Soundtrack: Miles Davis “View From a Lift”
Retreat: never retreat
Wildest dream: to produce Macbeth for the screen
Proudest moment: birth of my son
Biggest challenge: parenting
Alarm clock: the simpler the better - I have a Big Ben Twilight
First job: dishwasher
Indulgence: beef jerky
Last purchase: gas
Favorite movie: Singing in the Rain
Inspiration: my kids
My life: is not complete

Next session: December 15
