A personal message from James Marsters

“As many of you know I am off to Australia for a week to attend a con. It should be great to meet all the Australian fans (and those who have traveled from afar to be there). I’m enjoying reading everyone’s letters and cannot thank everyone enough for all the support and love and hugs you keep sending my way. I’m doing great and really concentrating on MacBeth and other great acting possibilities. Lot’s of catching up on sleep and exercising. I will write about my Australian experiences when I get back.” - James.

James Marsters Ends Ghost of the Robot

From Ghostoftherobot.com - 15/06/04

To all fans of the band Ghost of the Robot,

After two great years of music making and touring I have decided to dissolve the band Ghost of the Robot. This was not an easy decision to make but one that was thought out thoroughly with consideration to you, the amazing fans and my amazing band mates. There are no bad feelings or creative differences that lead to this decision. I have always given 100% of myself to my craft and I felt that the band and the fans would suffer now that I will be devoting all my time to new film and television projects since "Buffy" and "Angel" are no longer in production. Please know how much I have appreciated everyone’s support of me and of the band. I hope that you will continue to support me in my future film and television projects. This decision will not affect me participating in or attending any conventions. I love the feedback I get from my fans and look forward the next time I see you.

All my best, James Marsters

James Marsters will star in a movie of William Shakespeare`s play Macbeth

From Buffy.nu - 13/06/04

A dream comes true for James. He will star in a movie of William Shakespeare`s play Macbeth and play the ambidextrous king of Scotland.

James stated that he has 50 million $ as the budget for the movie. He will write the script and play the leading role. He will also cast the other actors for this project. So MacBeth will contain 100% James. We hope to see this adaption of William Shakespeare`s play soon in the cinemas. It will be released in about 2 or 3 years.

Congrats, Mr Marsters!

James Speaks on Spike (thanks to CHEVEL1234) -- Added Nov 10, 2000

Taken from Cinescape Online

James Marsters has some definite ideas on what he'd like to see happen with his character of Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. While talking to TV Guide Online, Marsters talks of his character's potential, saying, "He has powers; he just can't use them against human beings because The Initiative put that damned computer chip in his head. Basically, the writers had to find a way for Spike to stop trying to kill Buffy all the time, because he can't really kill her--and he can't keep failing at it, or he'll look pathetic."

Marsters also revealed that he has suggested to Buffy creator Joss Whedon that Spike be moved over to the Angel TV series. Marsters explains, "I'm hoping to go on Angel again, because I think I can draw more blood there. I could be a full-blown villain over there, because I can still mess with other vampires. And I hate the man anyway, because he took [Drusilla], so let's go!"

James Marsters "Getting the Most Buzz" for ANGEL TV Movie

From Tvguide.com - By Kristin Veitch - 21/08/04

That’s the latest word, plus news on the possibility that Charisma Carpenter may become a Charmed regular.

Rooty Tooty Spike and Fruity: Angel fans, you never cease to amaze me. Though the show is long gone, and we have nothing left but our anger at the WB to cling to, you’ve still managed to turn it around and do something positive.

This week, I received my very first fruit basket from the fruitcakes (I say that lovingly) at Support Spike, along with a 12-inch-tall collectible doll that is making this a one-handed column as we speak--I cannot bear to release my kung-fu grip on wittle Spikey.

The fan publicity kits were sent to the WB, Mutant Enemy (Joss Whedon’s production company), Fox Studios and a few press types. Their mission: stir up support for a Spike-centered event movie or spinoff series.

According to sources at the Frog net, WB boss Garth Ancier is still pushing for the WB to do at least one Angel TV movie this season, possibly a few, focusing on individual characters. Since David Boreanaz is not expected to sign on, I’m told James Marsters (Spike) is getting "the most buzz."

More yumminess, though it’s hardly an Angel movie, we fans may have another reason to tune into the WB this fall. A rep at the network confirmed that Angel expat Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) is indeed guesting on Charmed in the third and fifth episodes of the season, airing Sept. 26 and Oct. 10. She’s filming right now, and I’m hoping to speak with her to get the full scoop. For now I can tell you she’s playing a demonic seer (no connection to her role on Angel).

According to the rep at the WB, there’s a possibility Charisma could end up as a regular, but for now, it’s just a guest appearance.

Jane Espenson Joins Boreanaz and Marsters For Halloween

From Bbc.co.uk - 20/08/04

Top Buffy writer joins Boreanaz and Marsters.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer writer Jane Espenson will be flying in from America to join TV bloodsuckers David Boreanaz and James Marsters for the upcoming Halloween convention in London.

Jane worked closely with Buffy The Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon and was both writer and co-executive producer of the series. She was responsible for many top episodes including Band Candy, Superstar and Harsh Light Of Day.

She’s now writing for Tru Calling, starring ex-Buffy star Eliza Dushku, and has recently entered into a development deal with 20th Century Fox. She hopes to produce her own series in the upcoming seasons.

Jane will be joining the guest line-up at Halloween 2004 in London this October with David Boreanaz, James Marsters, Juliet Landau and Luke Perry.

She will be revealing some behind-the-scenes secrets of filming Buffy The Vampire Slayer and talking about what it takes to put words into the mouth of a vampire.

David Boreanaz Keeps Angel Alive

From Tvguide.com - 18/04/04

Rumors that David Boreanaz is not up for an Angel movie are utterly bloodless. The ex-vamp is willing to take another turn at bat, but not on the tube. "It would have to be a theatrical release," he tells TV Guide Online. "I’m not into the movie-of-the-week [idea]."

Last month at the Television Critics Association press tour, WB execs remained hopeful that Angel would someday be reborn into a series of small-screen flicks. But network chairman Garth Ancier conceded that it would take "a little coaxing" to get Boreanaz interested. "I know they wanted to do, like, six films," Boreanaz says, "It’s not that I’m against it; it just needs to be a bigger challenge. When you do something for five seasons, you want to continue to challenge yourself... go to another level with it rather than just doing the same thing you’ve been doing."

With that in mind, Boreanaz recently shot the title role in the big-screen comedy Mr. Fix It. "It has a very ’80s romantic theme to it," he says. "I’m going to be doing some dancing, singing... it’s going to be a lot of fun." He’s also in talks to co-star in a high-profile franchise flick that he insists is not Superman. "It’s better," he teases, adding, "’Four’ would be the magic number - that’s all I’m going to say." (Our guess? It’s the in-the-works fourth Indiana Jones pic.)

In the meantime, "I’m really having fun with leaving the show and doing roles that are, for me, expressing what I love to do," Boreanaz says. "[It’s great] not being tied down to a series for nine months out of the year. It really is refreshing to see myself going into another arena."

From Star-ecentral.com :

Boreanaz quashes Angel rumours

David Boreanaz spoke to TV Guide, and quashed rumours that he’s not up for an Angel movie. The actor, however, sets things straight by saying that he’s not exactly keen on making telemovies.

"It would have to be a theatrical release," he says. "I’m not into the movie-of-the-week [idea]."

Apparently Warner Bros. execs were interested in bringing back Angel as small-screen flicks. "I know they wanted to do, like, six films," Boreanaz said, "It’s not that I’m against it; it just needs to be a bigger challenge. When you do something for five seasons, you want to continue to challenge yourself... go to another level with it rather than just doing the same thing you’ve been doing."

With that laid to rest, Boreanaz will next be seen playing the title role in the comedy Mr. Fix It; and after that, he might turn up in a high-profile franchise film, which he insists is not Superman.

Teasingly the hunky star said: "It’s better - ’Four’ would be the magic number - that’s all I’m going to say."

Hmm, now would that ’four’ be fantastic, jurassic, or just plain Indy. Stay tuned, we promise we’ll keep you informed.

From Comingsoon.net :

David Boreanaz on Angel Movie & New Project

TV Guide chatted with actor David Boreanaz who says the rumors he’s not up for an Angel movie are nonsense. He’s willing to go another round, but not on TV.

"It would have to be a theatrical release," he says. "I’m not into the movie-of-the-week [idea]."

WB execs said they were interested in doing TV films. "I know they wanted to do, like, six films," Boreanaz added, "It’s not that I’m against it; it just needs to be a bigger challenge. When you do something for five seasons, you want to continue to challenge yourself... go to another level with it rather than just doing the same thing you’ve been doing."

Next up for Boreanaz is the comedy Mr. Fix It and he’s also signed up for another high-profile franchise film that he insists is not Superman. "It’s better," he teases, adding, "’Four’ would be the magic number - that’s all I’m going to say."

He could mean Jurassic Park 4, Fantastic Four, or Indiana Jones 4. We’ll let you know when we find out more.

Buffy/Angel Movies Still Possible !!!! - Joss Whedon Statement !!!!

From Scifi.com - 12/08/04

Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel creator Joss Whedon told SCI FI Wire that he’s ready to return to the Buffyverse with television films once he receives a green light from The WB, home of Angel, or another network. "We haven’t really heard anything," Whedon said in an interview. "Obviously, there’s been a regime change at The WB. The fans are interested. I’m interested. I don’t think either [Buffy star] Sarah [Michelle Gellar] or [Angel star] David [Boreanaz] would want to do it. But I think there’s about 10 other characters I could name who would be totally worthy of movies. And I’m just waiting for somebody to say yea or nay."

As for a proposed Buffy animated series, Whedon said, "A presentation is being made. It hasn’t been bought anywhere, but it’s still in the creating stages, so it’s still a possibility."

Beyond Buffy, Whedon said he’d readily return to series television. "I had some ideas," he said. "I’m sort of trying to look at the marketplace and say, ’What kind of idea will actually go?’ Because I’m not really interested in making things that don’t. ... So I’m not sure if what I have is what the world wants right now."

But, Whedon added, "I am totally prepared to go back to TV. Not 24-seven, as I did with the first years of Buffy. But now I’ve learned about surrounding yourself with the right people and delegating so that I can actually run a show without ruining my life. And TV is, you know, ... a medium that I love in a very different way than I love movies. The things that I can’t do in [a] movie are things that I mourn: the smaller moments. The ... protracted interactions. The things that make TV really fascinating. Watching characters change over the years. You know, I’ve waited my whole life to make movies, but movies don’t do that. ... You either write novels that are are way too long, or you make TV if you want to do that. And ... I can’t write novels that are long."

Angel CD Soundtrack Update - Bad News For USA

From Cityofangel.com - 11/08/04

Another good omen for Angel music fans in regards to the upcoming CD of the series’ musical scores, "Angel album looks like a go: nearing final stages of completion. Release looks like it will be 4th quarter, 2004. At this point it is positively full steam ahead with producing it and finishing it."

Rob

But along with the good news, Rob also had some slightly bad news to add to it, and that was that the CD will not be released in the USA, but will be everywhere else in the viable marketing world. No explanation from Fox/EMI was given as to this decision. So, all you Colonials out there, make friends with your Northern Lights neighbors so you won’t be left out of the excitement when the first Angel music CD finally hits the streets. Length of the album will be 79-minutes!

Fans please note that Fox announced to Rob they did not want a ’songs’ album and he had to specially request the non-score tracks included:

Vast "Touched": 4:00

Kim Richey "No Place Like Home": 3:59

Christian Kane "LA Song": 3:11

Andy Hallett "Lady Marmalade": 3:06 & "It’s Not Easy Being Green": 2:53

PLUS, a New extended version of the Main Title theme by Darling Violetta!
